    The month of February is designated as Black History Month, a time to remember and honor the legacies of Black individuals who have made significant impacts on our society.

    Black History Month help to reflect on the inhumane history and memorize the contributions of African Americans.

    In recent years, there has been a growing focus on the contributions of black women in particular, who have been historically overlooked and undervalued.

    Black Women Making History

    Black women have a key role in making and shaping black people history.

    Margaret Garner, an enslaved African American who murdered her child just to stop the re-enslavement; in the Little Rock Integration Crisis in 1957, Daisy Bates was against the supremacy in her way.

    From enslaved women who resisted oppression to female leaders in the Civil Rights Movement, not to mention how many other outstanding women are shouting for minorities in the civil right movement, black women have been engaged in every fight for equality and social justice.

    Donna Christensen is the first female physician and the first Black physician to serve in Congress. Her work in medicine and health care means a lot to girls who are willing to dedicate themselves to human health.

    Dr. Patricia Cowings is the first African American woman to receive scientist-astronaut training. She worked in NASA and made contributions to human exploration of the universe.

    In the athletic arena, performances by black women inspired us:

    Serena Williams is considered one of the greatest tennis players of all time, and Simone Biles won gold at the 2016 Summer Olympics.

    Barriers Faced by Black Women

    There are many injustices and inequalities faced by women, and as a minor group, black women have to endure more pain.

    Usually, Black women are often undervalued and underrepresented. They face wage disparities, lack of advancement opportunities, gender and race discrimination…

    Therefore, we should respect black women in all fields, not only in the workplace, but also in the attitude of life. Any black woman who fights against social injustice in all aspects is a warrior and deserves praise and encouragement.
