On the afternoon of September 14, at Nebula NYC, New York Fashion Week witnessed something it had never seen before: Miss Curvy: Curve It Up runway show — a bold, narrative-led runway entirely cast with plus-size women, delivering not just fashion, but a cultural shift.
Miss Curvy, powered by the inclusive platform WooPlus, provides a stage where curvy women can showcase their unique charm, personality, and style — a pageant not limited by size. This NYFW debut transforms that spirit into a live runway production, a story-driven celebration of curves, confidence, and community. The show’s centerpiece moment — a dramatic wall collapse, symbolizing the fall of size bias — brought the audience to their feet.
“Representation belongs on the biggest stages,” said Tigress Osborn, Executive Director of NAAFA (National Association to Advance Fat Acceptance), the world’s oldest size-acceptance nonprofit, who delivered opening remarks. “Tonight proves that big-bodied visibility is not only possible — it’s powerful.” Their participation underscores a shared vision with Miss Curvy: ending stigma and creating a world where beauty comes in every size.
This year’s Runway Stars were chosen through a nationwide TikTok casting campaign under #CurveItUp and #MissCurvy, spotlighting personal stories of resilience, motherhood, artistry, and self-discovery.
The Next Chapter: The Power Bar & $1M Pledge
This unconventional show also marked the launch of Miss Curvy’s Power Bar initiative — a digital engagement tool that tracks community support. As the bar fills, Miss Curvy will unlock a $1 million pledge to elevate curvy voices in culture, fashion, and beyond.
