I think this depends on the relationship dynamic. If y’all are in closed/monogamous and your partner expresses they only want romantic exchanges with in the relationship than accepting gifts elsewhere would essentially be inappropriate.
On the other hand if the relationship is open it’s fine.

And no I don't say go ahead because I hate any past exes. I just know better, exes are exes for a reason. I learned alot from them and am much wiser for it. Never have taken an ex back so it wouldn't bother me.
